Christmas In July
Wednesday, July 25, 2018
As you know we love Christmas in July and recently Pearl and I took a trip on the The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant in Melbourne to celebrate.
The Colnial Tramcar Restaurant is a historic, burgundy and gold tramcar which travels various routes around the city of Melbourne while you dine. It operates all year round and we are happy to say it offers an amazing Christmas in July experience.
So, if you are looking for a fabulous festive experience to celebrate Christmas in July then this is the place to go!
Our lunchtime journey started at 12.30pm and on the day we were fortunate to have clear blue skies and sunshine. On our arrival we were greeted by the friendly tramcar staff who were wearing Santa hats and were definitely in the festive mood!
The tramcar looked gorgeous decked out with Christmas decorations and had Christmas carols as background music.
When we were seated we discovered appetisers of humus and roasted capsicum dips served with crisp lavosh and crisp bread to nibble on. Both were delicious, especially with the mulled wine which was served immediately.
Entrée was a delicious Christmas Roast Beef served with a sweet potato, zucchini and chive frittata and a sharp mustard dressing.
Main was of course classic turkey and ham served with a roast veg and herb medley and cranberry sauce.
Dessert we are thrilled to say was Christmas pudding and brandy sauce. Which was delicious!
Red, white and sparkling wine were served throughout the meal as well as other alternatives which were all included in the package.
To round of what was a gorgeous meal, tea, coffee and liqueurs were served with chocolate drizzled Christmas tree shortbread.
There were also a number of brilliant surprises along the way. Santa hopped on board and handed out small gifts to all of the passengers.
There were chocolates for the adults and small gifts for the children. At this point we'd like to give a big Ho Ho Ho to Santa who was the best Santa we have ever seen! Not only was he jolly and very festive he also sang opera!

At then end of our journey Pearl was thrilled to win one of 2 raffles - a bottle of wine in a Colonial Tramcar Restaurant gift bag. She has never won anything before!!
After all of this wonderful food and drink both of us needed a nap (just like Christmas day) so we gathered our belongings ready to head home. As we exited the tramcar all of the guests were greeted by the tramcar staff who were handing out more gifts! Each diner received a yummy sweet mince pie and a souvenir Colonial Tramcar Restaurant Christmas Bauble. Both were a huge hit.
This fabulous, festive experience cost $125.00AU per person and Pearl and I have decided to make it our new Christmas in July tradition!
If you're ever in Melbourne please visit this amazing travelling tramcar restaurant - you won't be disappointed!
